‘Huge multinational rescue’: Desperate effort underway as Nepal flood toll climbs

News24 Asia Correspondent Stas Butler reports an international rescue operation is gathering pace as the devastating Nepal floods leave hundreds missing and a region facing an enormous rebuilding challenge. “We know that South Korea has sent, among other countries, rescuers directly to the area,” Mr Butler told News24 host Chris Kenny. “It’s clearly going to be a huge multinational rescue effort there. “This is a region that will struggle; it’s not the most developed, as the prime minister said today. It’s going to struggle to rebuild; it’s going to be very expensive to rebuild. “This is clearly a story that’s touched so many people.”
