Tons of Fentanyl & Glocks w/ Auto Switches Found in Car

A routine traffic stop in Arizona takes a serious turn after troopers discover a Wisconsin felony warrant, inconsistencies in the driver’s story, and ultimately, a K9 alert. What begins as a stop involving a Mazda SUV traveling north quickly becomes something much bigger. The two men claim they drove more than 30 hours from Wisconsin to Arizona simply to go shopping, but their explanation raises questions. After a K9 alerts to the vehicle, law enforcement searches the SUV and makes a major discovery: three handguns, including a stolen Kimber and two Glocks equipped with conversion devices commonly known as “switches,” capable of converting semiautomatic pistols into fully automatic firearms. Investigators also discover 11 pounds of fentanyl pills hidden inside the vehicle. Both men are questioned about the discoveries, but neither is eager to explain what was found. The driver ultimately maintains that he knew nothing about the weapons or drugs. The case would eventually lead to a prison sentence of roughly three and a half years for the driver. The passenger’s Arizona case was dismissed, while he was reportedly extradited to Wisconsin, where he later faced trial and is currently incarcerated on a narcotics conviction.
