$22,000,000 in Cocaine Found in Semi Truck

The officer initiated a traffic stop after noticing a semi-truck traveling with its hazard lights activated. When he approached the driver, he was told the truck was experiencing mechanical issues and that he was headed to a nearby truck stop to have a mechanic take a look. However, the situation quickly escalated when the officer reviewed the driver's logbooks and discovered possible violations involving falsified driving records. The driver had also claimed to have a co-driver, but investigators later determined that person did not exist. After receiving consent to search the vehicle, the officer uncovered a massive hidden drug shipment — one of the largest drug seizures involving a commercial truck in U.S. history. The driver, an Indian national living in Canada, had allegedly picked up the drugs in California and was transporting them across the border. Investigators later discovered that this was not the driver's first trip along this route. He had reportedly made the same journey multiple times before and had even been stopped for previous traffic violations without authorities discovering the massive operation taking place behind the scenes.
