The torrential rains that struck Nepal and the Tibet region continue to claim victims, according to a still provisional toll, while rescue operations face immense difficulties due to the accumulation of mud and debris. More than 6,500 people have been rescued. The floods that hit Nepal a week ago, near the border with China, have caused 1,114 deaths and left 3,916 people missing, according to a provisional count released by emergency management authorities. On the Chinese side, state media reported 16 deaths and 546 missing in the Tibet region, raising the provisional toll of the catastrophe in both countries to 1,130 dead and 4,462 missing.
