Más de 20 muertos y 700 capturas: balance contra grupos armados en el primer mes de De La Espriella

A total of 702 arrests were reported by the Armed Forces between August 7 and 30, 2026, according to the joint report covering the first weeks of Abelardo De La Espriella's presidency. The report indicates that, in addition to the arrests, there were 35 surrenders, the recovery of more than 30 minors, 21 deaths during military operations, and two voluntary surrenders, as well as disruptions to the structures of armed groups and criminal organizations. This report includes the results of the recent bombings, including those in El Retorno and Miraflores, which left 10 and 8 dissidents dead, respectively. In the fight against drug trafficking, the report records the seizure of 14,634 kilograms of cocaine, 613 kilograms of cocaine base, 6,051 kilograms of marijuana, and 17,105 kilograms of coca leaves, in addition to the discovery of 11 cocaine hydrochloride labs and 103 cocaine base labs. Regarding seized weapons and ammunition, authorities reported 214 handguns, 41 rifles, three sidearms, 926 explosive devices, and 19,778 rounds of ammunition, as well as 427 explosive devices. The report also includes results from operations against illegal economies. In the area of ​​illegal mining, 72 arrests were reported, along with the seizure of 34,863 gallons of fuel, and the intervention of 28 dredges, 13 draglines, 23 pieces of heavy machinery, 52 pieces of other machinery, and 134 mining operations or tunnels.
