The Tall Man’s Anatomy Explained - Is Phantasm’s Mortician Really Human, or Something Far Worse?
Let me ask you a question: when we talk about iconic horror villains, what names pop into your mind? I bet they are Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, Pinhead, Michael Myers, and the like. Not that any of them do not deserve those spots, but it does make me a little disappointed that every conversation about iconic horror villains always seems to revolve around the same names. There’s plenty of other villains who deserve just as much recognition, and I don’t think they are any less fascinating than the ones mentioned above. So, allow me to rectify that and bring to you a slightly less-discussed name-the Tall Man. Maybe the reason why he tends to come towards the end of most “most iconic villains” lists is that the Phantasm franchise can be straight-up weird at times. I feel no shame admitting that I have had to rewatch a couple of scenes to grasp what was happening, but the one thing that hooked me about the films from the beginning was this dude. He just had to look at the screen with that stoic, unchanging, oddly chilling look, and that was all it took to make audiences nervous. So, let’s break down everything we know about the Tall Man and pray we don’t get plagued by nightmares tonight.
