The bodies of cousins ​​Letycia Garcia Mendes and Sttela Dalva Melegari e Almeida were found after a four-month search. The young women disappeared in April of this year after accepting a ride from suspect Clayton Antônio da Silva Cruz, known as "Dog Dog." The case had a tragic ending when the suspect was killed during a confrontation with police in the city of Mandaguari, Paraná. Clayton was considered a key figure in solving the mystery. He had an extensive criminal record for robbery and drug trafficking. During an operation planned by the Civil Police to capture him, he reacted violently when approached by authorities. After breaking into a neighboring house and taking hostages, Clayton was shot by police. He revealed the location of the young women's remains, found buried near a rural road in the Paraíso do Norte region. Investigations indicated that only Clayton's cell phone was active between Puerto Rico and Cianorte—locations related to the victims' last movements before their disappearance. The cousins' cell phones were deactivated. Furthermore, explosives were found in the hideout used by Clayton in Mandaguari, raising the possibility of his connections to bank robbery gangs in the region.
