This week, reality started to hit. What we thought would be a relatively simple first renovation quickly turned into wrong paint colours, wasted money, endless trips to the hardware store, an overgrown garden, no working hot water, no internet and a growing list of problems we hadn't expected. Renovating an abandoned house is already challenging. Trying to LIVE inside it at the same time with a young family turned out to be even harder. Eventually, we had to make a decision we weren't expecting to make this early in the renovation… Despite the setbacks, we're determined to bring this forgotten house back to life and turn it into our home here in the Japanese countryside.
