119 people rescued in Nepal as death toll passes 1,000 with 4,000 missing | BBC News

119 more people have been rescued in Nepal following the deadly flash floods, according to the country’s armed forces. It comes nearly a week after the disaster that hit both Nepal and neighbouring Tibet. The number of people known to have died in the disaster has passed 1,000, with more than 3,900 missing. More than 600 of those missing are workers who are believed to be trapped in a vast network of mud-filled tunnels at hydropower sites along the Trishuli River. The rescue operation is being led by an international team and Nepalese military personnel, with experts from India, Korea and Australia also involved.
