As reported by TribunJabar, Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan confirmed that the Boeing C-17 Globemaster III aircraft landed on Monday (August 31, 2026) after receiving official permission from Husein Sastranegara Air Force Base. Farhan explained that the presence of the hundreds-ton aircraft aims to support logistical readiness for the multinational joint military exercise titled Super Garuda Shield 2026. The exercise, which involves thousands of soldiers from Indonesia and dozens of partner countries such as the United States, Australia, Japan, and the United Kingdom, officially opened at the end of August and is scheduled to run until September 11, 2026. Despite weighing up to 256 tons with a wingspan of 51 meters, Husein Sastranegara Airport's runway capacity is guaranteed to be sufficient to accommodate the landings of this strategic cargo aircraft, alongside other military aircraft such as the Hercules C-130 and Airbus A400M.
