September Is About To Be DERAILED

The heat just refuses to let go. In today’s weather update, I’m breaking down a stubborn September heat ridge that looks poised to keep much of the central and southern United States much warmer than normal, with very few signs of meaningful fall relief anytime soon. I’ll show you the latest temperature forecasts and long-range weather patterns, including where occasional cooler shots may develop across the Northeast and West—and why much of the nation’s midsection could continue dealing with extreme heat, high humidity, warm nights, and potentially record-setting temperatures. We’re also tracking the remnants of Tropical Storm Edward across eastern Texas, where extremely heavy rain and flash flooding remain major concerns. Some locations have already received tremendous rainfall, and additional rounds could push storm totals even higher as the system slowly moves inland. Severe weather is another big part of today’s forecast. I’m tracking the potential for damaging winds, large hail, heavy rain, and a few tornadoes from the Great Lakes into the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Additional rounds of thunderstorms could continue over the next several days as disturbances rotate around the northern edge of the heat ridge.
