BEEF PROCESSING SHUTDOWN: You Need to See This!

Breaking news: Thursday August 13th, Tyson Foods — America’s largest beef processor — sent closure letters to workers at its Joslin, Illinois plant, informing them their jobs would end that same day. 2,500 union workers in the Quad Cities. 43 years of operations. Gone in thirty minutes. At the same time, Tyson announced it is closing its Eagle Mountain, Utah facility and pursuing the sale of its Pasco, Washington plant. Combined with January’s Lexington, Nebraska closure — 3,200 jobs — analysts at Stephens Inc. estimate Tyson has cut its beef slaughter capacity by 50% since last year. Tyson cites one of the most historic cattle shortages the country has ever experienced. USDA data confirms it. The August 12th WASDE confirmed it the day before the announcement.
