A guest on C dans l'air, Jean-Marc Jancovici discusses the extreme weather events already marking 2026, the consequences of El Niño, and a reality our societies must now confront: the climate we once knew will not return. Heat waves, droughts, fires, melting glaciers… Current records will, sooner or later, be broken again. For Jean-Marc Jancovici, we must now both reduce the causes of climate change and prepare to live in a different world. But the interview also addresses another question: how can we collectively make decisions in an increasingly unstable world facing difficult choices? Jean-Marc Jancovici presents "Un commun accord" (A Common Agreement), an initiative bringing together 150 citizens representative of the French population, randomly selected to work for six weekends on major issues for the country's future. Agriculture, the environment, purchasing power, defense, energy, and other major collective choices: the goal is not to find a miracle solution, but to identify the compromises that citizens are willing to accept when no easy answer exists. This non-partisan approach is expected to release its conclusions during the presidential election period. Just a few hours after its launch, more than 50,000 people had already expressed their support for the initiative. → Learn more about Un commun accord: https://www.uncommunaccord.fr/ CHAPTERS: 00:00 Images of a Changing Climate 01:24 Melting Glaciers: Risks Already Identified 02:23 El Niño: 2026, a Catastrophic Year? 03:41 "The 20th-Century Climate Is Lost Forever" 05:13 Why Launch Un commun accord? 06:00 150 French Citizens Representative of the Population 07:51 Agriculture: Can We Really Reconcile Everything? 09:25 Why a New Citizen Initiative? 10:54 A Completely Non-Partisan Initiative 12:16 How Will the 150 Citizens Work? 13:14 Proposals in the presidential debate 14:24 More than 50,000 supporters at launch 14:38 "There's a desire to participate" 15:29 Why choose the regional press? 16:07 What will happen after February 6th?
