The death of Erin Piacenti, a 32-year-old lawyer and vice president at Bank of America, shocked New York City after she was attacked in Times Square on the afternoon of August 31. According to police, Pamela Cisneros, 49, first attacked a 68-year-old man and then, approximately 20 seconds later, assaulted Piacenti. The executive later died at the hospital, while the other man survived. Cisneros was shot and killed by officers after refusing to drop two knives and advancing toward them. Piacenti's position and the proximity of the attack to her workplace raised questions about a possible professional motive, but so far the investigation has not established a connection to Bank of America.
