Summer 2026 was the UK's hottest on record, the Met Office has confirmed. Drought, wildfires and extreme temperatures dominated headlines as the UK experienced a summer like no other. The hottest day of the year was recorded on August 13, with Kew Gardens measuring 38.1C, making it the fifth hottest day the UK has ever seen. Hundreds of wildfires threatened homes as unprecedented heat and record-breaking drought swept across the UK. Many now wonder whether this is our new normal...
