Could the EU run out of gas this winter?

The EU is racing to fill its gas reserves ahead of the winter as storage levels are at a historic low for this time of year. The EU target is 80% gas capacity by December 1st, storage sites in the bloc currently hold around 60%. EU energy regulators say member states need to significantly pick up the pace in storing gas. The conflict in Ukraine and the US-Israeli war on Iran that has partially blocked the Strait of Hormuz has severely disrupted energy supplies with traders putting off buying gas. This has left the EU scrambling to build up their energy reserves and competing with Asian buyers, with prices rising. The EU insists gas storage is on track for the winter - but will it be enough?
