VERDICT WATCH — Jury Continues Deliberating In Massachusetts v. Lindsay Clancy
The jury in Lindsay Clancy's murder trial will resume deliberations today (Wednesday, Sept. 2) at 9 a.m. in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Jurors deliberated about 17 hours over Thursday, Friday and Monday. They continued at 9:13 a.m. on Monday and said in a note about 10 a.m. today, "After many hours of deliberation, we are unable to come to a unanimous decision." Judge William Sullivan ordered them to continue deliberating but stopped short of reading a more formal Allen or "dynamite" charge. Judges often do this when juries first say they are deadlocked. The jury of nine women and three men heard 22 days of testimony. Clancy, who turned 36 last month, was on maternity leave from her job as a labor and delivery nurse when she strangled 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan at their home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, on Jan. 24, 2023. She is charged with three counts of murder; jurors must decide if it's premeditated. Jurors can consider manslaughter as a lesser included offense to murder.
