Bombardeos contra criminales y disidencias: ¿funcionan las antiguas fórmulas? | Debate

The government of Abelardo De La Espriella is reaffirming the use of bombings as one of its main strategies against illegal armed groups. In just three weeks, three air operations have been carried out in different regions of the country, targeting structures of the ELN and FARC dissidents. The most recent bombing occurred in Miraflores, Guaviare, against the Carolina Ramírez Front, part of the Iván Mordisco dissident group. According to the government, the operation left 20 members of this group dead, five captured, and two minors rescued. Weapons and field equipment were also seized. The strategy is generating debate due to the presence of minors in armed groups. The Ombudsman's Office has asked the State to strengthen intelligence efforts to prevent children and adolescents from becoming victims of these operations, while the government blames the armed groups for recruitment.
