"Había que negociar": abogado de Petro revela detalles de sus reuniones con Gloria Arizabaleta

The lawyer for outgoing President Gustavo Petro, Alejandro Carranza, provided new details about his meetings with Representative Gloria Arizabaleta of the House Accusations Committee, asserting that in their last encounter, the congresswoman told him that "negotiations were necessary" to prevent any actions against the president. In an interview on Mañanas Blu with Néstor Lorenzo, Carranza stated that he held three meetings and one additional encounter with Arizabaleta before filing the complaint with the authorities. According to Carranza, in the initial discussions, the congresswoman insisted that he act as an intermediary between herself and President Petro, while in their final meeting, held on July 10, the situation changed. Carranza stated that the first meeting took place during a luncheon to which he was invited through the secretary of the Accusations Committee. There, he recounted, Arizabaleta hinted that she needed him to act as a channel of communication with the president. Later, he said he was invited to breakfast at the congresswoman's house, where he received the same request. "She suggested that I should serve as a liaison between the president or the government and her. I always stated that I couldn't do any of that because my job wasn't to be a public relations officer," he affirmed. The lawyer also recalled a third encounter, which he described as chance, that occurred at the DAPRE (Presidential Administrative Department) offices, when he ran into Arizabaleta while she was talking to another official.
