Federico Gutiérrez, the mayor of Medellín, revealed details of his recent trip to the United States, where he held high-level meetings with federal agencies such as the FBI and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). The mayor presented compelling evidence of an alleged transnational corruption network that operated during the previous administration, directly pointing to what he described as an organized criminal structure. Among the key figures in this network is Sebastián Ortega, a fundamental figure linked to the legal proceedings against Miguel Quintero, brother of former mayor Daniel Quintero. The mayor of Medellín was emphatic in describing the seriousness of the findings he presented to the U.S. justice system: "I have no doubt that they are a criminal structure, and the Prosecutor's Office itself stated this... that what they created was an organized crime group, a criminal organization to steal from Medellín." During his meetings with the FBI's international corruption task force—the same team that led landmark investigations like the Odebrecht and FIFA Gate cases—Gutiérrez provided names, addresses, and records of companies allegedly used to divert public funds to the state of Florida.
