MythBusters — S10 E16 "Hail Hijinx" — Aired October 21, 2012 Cliffhanger features a scene where Sylvester Stallone's character makes a running leap onto one end of a rope bridge just as explosives destroy the mooring at the opposite end, and Adam and Jamie began with small-scale testing using a pneumatic jumper and a solenoid-controlled bridge drop, finding that even a fifty millisecond delay after the bridge started falling cut the jump height in half, and by one hundred fifty milliseconds a jump was no longer possible at all, before scaling everything up to a genuine sixteen-hundred pound rope and plank bridge strung across a dry dock at a shipyard, rigging explosive squibs to release one end on cue, and having Jamie attempt the same running leap Stallone made look effortless to find out exactly how much of a head start reality actually allows.
