The film 'The Voice of Hind Rajab' vividly depicts the horror of the killing and the "invisible structural violence" caused by occupation and apartheid through her phone records. What role does film play as a "place of memory"? We present this question along with an audio interview with director Kauter Ben Hania. [Guest Profile] Kauter Ben Hania Born in Sidi Bouzid, Tunisia in 1977. Studied filmmaking in Tunis, Tunisia and Paris, France (La Fémi and Sorbonne University). His short films, "Sheik's Watermelons" (2018) and "Wooden Hand" (2013), received acclaim at several international film festivals. His feature film debut, "The Challat of Tunis" (2014), was selected as the opening film of the ACID section at the Cannes Film Festival. It was distributed in over 15 countries and achieved international success. His next feature documentary, "Zaineb Hates the Snow," was filmed over six years in Tunisia and Canada. It was officially screened at the 2016 Locarno Film Festival. In 2017, Beauty and the Dogs won the Best Sound Creation Award in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival. The Man Who Sold His Skin*, starring Monica Bellucci, premiered at the Venice International Film Festival and was nominated for Best International Feature Film at the 2021 Academy Awards. Following that, *Four Daughters (23) was entered into the competition section of the 76th Cannes Film Festival, winning the Golden Eye Award for outstanding documentary film. It was nominated for Best Documentary Feature at the 96th Academy Awards.
