It's a word a tourism board invented to bundle five countries that spend every day quietly certain they are nothing like the other four. From the outside they look like one thing: blond, cold, polite, terrifyingly efficient, all flat-pack furniture and universal healthcare and men in nice knitwear crying about their feelings on television. Get closer, and it's a family reunion where nobody chose to be related, everyone remembers exactly who used to rule whom, and the only thing they truly share is the certainty that the other four are doing it wrong. Sweden appoints itself the moral supervisor of the planet. Norway got rich off oil and would rather you didn't bring it up. Denmark makes a joke nobody else finds funny. Finland says nothing at all in the most eloquent way imaginable. Iceland is just delighted to have been invited. And behind all of them, Greenland, the one they drew the whole tidy map on top of. They award each other passive-aggressive points at Eurovision, close ranks the second an outsider lumps them together, then go straight back to keeping score. None of it is fair. So which sibling did I get exactly right, and which one are you, secretly? đź”— Here's a similar video:    • Stereotypes of the 5 Nordic Countries Expl...   đź”— Here's a recommended video:    • The Four Italies That Hate Each Other: Ste... Â
