Meanwhile, the United States faces its own structural contradictions. Military spending continues to rise even as public debt balloons, narrowing the margin for strategic error. History matters here. Leadership decisions do not occur in a vacuum; they are shaped by past commitments, unresolved failures, and the cumulative erosion of credibility. Ignoring that context leads to policies that feel bold in the short term but brittle over time. What ultimately emerges is a picture of systemic strain.
