Nepal flood: CCTV footage shows moment deadly mudslide tears through Nepal-China border crossing

Surveillance footage shot on Wednesday (August 26) showed people attempting to flee seconds before a devastating mudslide engulfed the border crossing between Nepal and China. Reuters was able to confirm the location from the buildings, river, road layout and terrain which matched archive and satellite imagery of the area. The date was confirmed by the timestamp of the CCTV footage. Both Nepali and Chinese governments reported on mudslide. Rasuwa district administrator told Reuters that there could be heavy casualties or loss of property on August 26. Chinese President Xi Jinping urged "all-out" search efforts for the missing as well as stronger monitoring and early warning systems to prevent secondary disasters on August 26. At least 384 travellers, including 291 foreign nationals, have been reported missing after torrential floods in the Tibet border area of the Himalayan nation of Nepal on Wednesday, the country's tourism board said.
