In recognition of their monumental achievement, the 2006 Opals team became the first-ever team inducted into the Australian Basketball Hall of Fame. Their triumph changed the landscape of Australian basketball by showing the country that a Gold Medal was possible, and stamped the country as a powerhouse in international basketball.
