On August 26, 2026, a catastrophic event occurred in the Himalayas, on the border of Nepal and Tibet. High in the mountains near Langtang Lirung, a massive mass of ice and rock collapsed. The torrent rushed down the valley, reached the Gyirong region, crossed the border, and continued along Nepal's river system. In a matter of minutes, the disaster changed the lives of thousands of people. At first, the seismic signal was mistaken for an earthquake. But subsequent analysis revealed a different picture: the signal was caused by the rockfall itself and the ensuing gigantic flow of debris, water, and mud. In this documentary, ATLAS ZERO, we reconstruct the chronology of events: from the first minutes of the disaster to the destruction, rescue operation, and search for missing people.
