Juliane Koepcke was the sole survivor of LANSA Flight 508 — a plane that broke apart at 10,000 feet over the Peruvian Amazon on Christmas Eve, 1971. She survived the fall. She survived 11 days alone in the jungle with no map, no compass, and a maggot-infested wound. Other passengers survived the crash too — they died waiting for help that came too late.
