In March of this year, a small boat capsized off the coast of Henoko, Okinawa, resulting in the deaths of two students from Doshisha International High School. At a parent-teacher meeting held on March 30th, it was announced that this year's Okinawa study trip would be canceled. Furthermore, it was revealed that one of the teachers involved in the study trip had died on March 23rd. Suicide is suspected. Some parents have stated that the deceased teacher had appeared listless after the accident.
