Dampak Karhutla Menyebar ke Negara Tetangga, Menhut: Asap Tidak Punya KTP

Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni spoke out about the haze from forest and land fires (karhutla) that has begun to affect neighboring countries. He stated that the haze doesn't have a National Identity Card (KTP), allowing it to spread to other areas. Therefore, the karhutla aren't limited to Indonesia. "The fires aren't just happening here. There are also forest fires in Sarawak (Malaysia), but the wind direction just happens to be upward," said Raja Juli, as quoted from a live broadcast on the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry's YouTube channel on Tuesday (September 1). He explained that wind direction can cause smoke from fires in neighboring countries to enter Indonesia. Likewise, smoke from Indonesia can be carried to other countries. "If the wind direction is from here (downward), according to our colleagues from the Environment Agency, the fires there will also enter Indonesia. Because smoke doesn't have an ID card," he said. Raja Juli stated that the government's main focus right now is ensuring the safety of Indonesian citizens from the impacts of forest and land fires occurring in several regions.
