I Hatched Earth's Oldest Predator (300 Million Years Old)
I simulated a prehistoric flash flood to hatch 300 million year old survivors and filmed the entire 115 day transformation. Triops, fairy shrimp, and clam shrimp eggs can lie dormant in dry desert soil for YEARS, waiting for one thing: rain. So I built a rainstorm simulation to trigger a hatch that hasn’t happened in this ecosystem in ages and the pool that formed came alive within hours. These living fossils have barely changed since the Triassic period, and watching them go from dormant eggs to a fully established ephemeral pool ecosystem over 115 days is like watching prehistoric Earth on fast forward.
