US President Donald Trump will meet at the White House with executives from major oil and refining companies to define the next steps in the oil agreement reached with Venezuela. One of the main objectives of the meeting will be to seek a reduction in gasoline prices for American consumers. Among the companies invited are Chevron, which maintains a significant presence in Venezuela, as well as Marathon Petroleum, Valero Energy, and PBF Energy. The White House also revealed new details about the agreement and the role that Alejandro Betancourt's company would play in the recovery of the Venezuelan oil industry. According to the information released, 17 oil fields with estimated reserves of up to 65 billion barrels would be involved. The agreement includes a US stake in the parent company, rights to a portion of the production, and veto power over members of the board of directors. Furthermore, the company anticipates investments of up to $100 billion to recover and expand Venezuela's oil production.
