One of the most talked-about figures of this period was Cem Ersever, a JİTEM officer known by the code name "Saw." Ersever, whose name is associated with torture, executions, and unsolved murders, left the army after years of activity. While preparing to reveal his connections within the state, Ersever himself was killed in an unsolved murder in 1993.
