From terrifying superweapons to droids that are fluent in six million forms of communication, technology plays essential roles across the galaxy. However, it often feels like it isn’t advancing much, even when thousands of years have passed between events. On the surface, the ships in Knights of the Old Republic don’t look very different from those in the Clone Wars, and Jedi are always using lightsabers. The reality is a little bit more complicated and may surprise you. I’ve broken it down to five key aspects that were responsible for the technology’s slow advancement.
