07/28/25 Vermont Dairy Farm of The Year 2025 | Four Girls Dairy
Peter Rainville’s farm in Fairfax, Vermont—Four Girls Dairy—has been named the 2025 Vermont Dairy Farm of the Year! This award honors more than just beautiful barns and well-kept pastures. It’s a recognition of Peter’s perseverance, innovation, and the deep sense of family that runs through every part of the farm. After a devastating barn fire in 2006, Peter rebuilt from the ashes—adopting robotic milking, solar power, and other technologies he once doubted. Today, Four Girls Dairy is a small but mighty operation milking 60 cows, with a clear commitment to sustainability, animal care, and staying connected to the community. All four of Peter’s daughters have returned to the farm as adults, helping carry its mission forward into the next generation. Judges praised the operation’s clean, welcoming look, alongside calm, healthy cows and the deep bond between Peter and his herd. Four Girls Dairy is a model of what’s possible for the future of Vermont agriculture: a small, family-run farm that embraces change while staying true to its roots.
