On June 29, a man facing deportation carried out a massacre at a mother-and-child facility in Stade, killing six people. Authorities and the media immediately labeled it a family tragedy, a custody battle, or a crime of passion. The NIUS investigative team refused to accept this explanation and instead sifted through hundreds of pages of internal investigation files, which NIUS has obtained exclusively. Their findings completely challenge the official version. What the files reveal: The perpetrator had previously warned authorities in a voice message that he would "take life for life." During his interrogation, he stated that he was prepared "to kill and to be killed." But that's not all: The getaway driver who transported the perpetrator from the scene after the attack is the mother-in-law of the Lower Saxony SPD's migration commissioner. Her name is said to have appeared in the perpetrator's chats weeks before the attack. The public prosecutor's office sees "no urgent suspicion of a crime," while the perpetrator himself committed suicide in his cell a few weeks after the crime, shortly after the 24-hour surveillance had ended. Who knew what? Why have alleged accomplices remained at large to this day? And why was there apparently a desire to downplay this case?
