A Wisconsin dairy farmer says she doesn’t understand why people are upset with how she voted — while at the same time admitting she can’t find enough workers to help milk her cows and her farm is struggling. In this video, I break down the policies Kamala Harris proposed that could have helped dairy farmers, and why voting against those policies may have turned into a very costly business decision. Agriculture depends heavily on labor. When you support aggressive deportation policies and then discover there aren’t enough workers willing to do these demanding jobs at the same wages, eventually those political decisions can show up right at the farm gate. At some point, we have to separate politics from business. If you knowingly vote for policies that hurt your own workforce and your own operation, people who warned you about those consequences may not have much sympathy when the bill comes due.
