Custody and Security at Brigham and Women's Hospital Strict Security Protocol: •The defendant remained paralyzed and confined to her hospital bed. • Court-Ordered Visit from Dr. Zeisel: •A psychologist/psychiatrist, Paul Zeisel, was allowed to visit the defendant under a court order. •Lawlor later learned that during this visit, after her intubation tube was removed, Lindsay used Dr. Zeisel's cell phone to call her husband, Patrick Clancy. Investigation Theories and the "Voices" Discussion (Voir Dire & Cross-Examination) The "Voices" Phone Call: Lawlor learned from the lead case investigator, Trooper Joshua McKelligan, that Lindsay had told her husband on the hospital phone call that she "heard voices in her head". The Voir Dire Hearing (Jury Excused): •Due to defense questioning regarding a prosecution theory about Dr. Zeisel, the jury was dismissed for a short voir dire hearing. •Lawlor testified that he had no direct conversation with prosecutors about their theories of the case. •He recalled discussing a theory in the office with Trooper McKelligan that the visiting psychologist (Zeisel) had planted the idea of "voices" in Lindsay's mind for a defense. •Lawlor acknowledged that this theory was Trooper McKelligan's speculation and had no investigative or factual basis that he was aware of. •Lawlor confirmed that the investigators did not receive any reports detailing what was actually discussed between Dr. Zeisel and Lindsay in the hospital room. 00:00 MA v Lindsay Clancy - Sgt.
