Multiple reports have revealed the U.S. is facing a critical munitions shortage, having used up much of its global stockpile of expensive missile systems during the war against Iran. "The Pentagon is completely dysfunctional when it comes to fighting this kind of war," says defense analyst William Hartung, principal adviser at the Project on Government Oversight. He says the U.S. policy establishment and the defense industry are less interested in effectiveness than in running a "money-making machine."
