The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) held an emergency press conference this afternoon (August 2nd), chaired by Director-General Lo Yi-chun. The CDC stated that on August 12th, it received a report of two cases of acute hepatitis C at the Antai Songhe Clinic in Banqiao District, belonging to the same family. Health authorities immediately initiated an epidemiological investigation and discovered that the two individuals had repeatedly visited the clinic for nutritional injections, thus launching a further investigation into the cluster. This cluster outbreak resulted in 11 people being infected with hepatitis C.
