Why Scientists Desperately Hope Their Discovery Is a Mistake

There is a line in the oldest light in the universe. It was set in place nearly fourteen billion years ago. Two satellites found it. Every attempt to make it disappear has failed. And it points directly at our solar system. No one knows why a pattern from the beginning of time should be aligned with the orbital plane of a small planet that would not exist for another nine billion years. Galaxy clusters are streaming in the same direction. Black holes billions of light years apart are spinning the same way. The standard model of cosmology cannot explain any of it. This is the story of the axis of evil, the line in the sky that is quietly destroying everything we think we know about the universe. - Credits: NASA ESA: https://www.esa.int/ESA_Multimedia/Vi...
