KOMPAS.TV - Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman revealed that limited seed availability is one of the government's obstacles in achieving garlic self-sufficiency. The government is targeting immediate self-sufficiency in this commodity and is aiming for a production of 40,000 tons by 2027. Amran stated that the issue is not primarily a budget issue. He stated that his office has even sent the Directorate General of Horticulture to several countries to source garlic seeds that can be used to accelerate domestic production. "We are striving for self-sufficiency as soon as possible, because we only need a maximum of 100,000 tons, while rice is 7 million tons. But it's not about the budget; we can transfer it.
