Laura Sarabia será imputada por la Fiscalía por chuzadas y polígrafo a Marelbys Meza

The Colombian Attorney General's Office has filed a request for a hearing to formally charge Laura Camila Sarabia Torres, former director of the Administrative Department of the Presidency (Dapre) and former Colombian ambassador to the United Kingdom, as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of abuse of public office and aggravated illegal coercion. This charge stems from the investigation into the wiretapping of her former nanny, Marelbys Meza, and Fabiola Perea, as well as the polygraph test administered to Meza. The hearing is scheduled for September 14 at 9:00 a.m. at the Paloquemao Judicial Services Center in Bogotá. The request was filed by a prosecutor assigned to the Supreme Court of Justice and is specifically related to events that occurred between January 27 and 29, 2023, when Marelbys Meza was allegedly coerced into undergoing a polygraph test after the loss of a suitcase belonging to Sarabia Torres, who at the time was serving as Chief of Staff to the President of the Republic. According to reports, the suitcase contained documents and money. The Prosecutor's Office maintains that these events are part of the ongoing investigation against Sarabia for his actions regarding the former nanny and the wiretaps that were later the subject of a judicial investigation. The indictment request comes after the investigating body ruled out the possibility of applying a restorative justice mechanism to resolve the case early. According to reports, Sarabia's defense team raised the possibility of resorting to this alternative on at least five occasions in order to seek an early termination of the proceedings.
