The Barbie movies have been a staple part of many childhoods since Mattel released Barbie in The Nutcracker in 2001. The Barbie film franchise started with unique takes on classic stories like The Princess and The Pauper and The 12 Dancing Princesses, then evolved into completely original stories like The Barbie Diaries, Princess Charm School, and the Fairytopia trilogy. 25 years and 44 films later, the movies now follow the Dreamhouse Adventures canon, which looks drastically different from how the films started.
