The journey begins at Sadarghat Port, where I buy my ticket before returning later that evening to board the ferry. With everything from floor space to VIP cabins available, I choose the standard single cabin for what I hope will be the most authentic experience. From the organised chaos of boarding to a full tour of the ferry, I explore every corner of the boat, including the café, kitchen, tuck shop and sleeping areas, while chatting with locals making the same journey. I then settle into my tiny (and slightly dirty!) cabin for the night before waking up in Barishal the following morning.
