Back in 1956, Nehru compared the merger of two states to an arranged marriage that could and in divorce if it didn't work out. Fifty-eight years later, in 2014, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh did exactly that. One state doubled down on IT and services. The other is betting on ports, manufacturing. semiconductors, and natural resources. Both are aiming for trillion-dollar economies by 2047-but with almost nothing in common in how they plan to get there. So did splitting one economl into two make each one stronger?
